Please join us again with the challenging task to generate funds for battered women and children of our region. The Garden Route Casino and its community is presenting and hosting this program on behalf of the Creating Effective Families, Malibongwe, Women Who Care and Phambili shelters situated in the Garden Route and Little Karoo.

Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo, a regional prestigious event

The gala event known as the Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo launched six years ago, has grown from strength to strength, and become a regional prestigious event on our social calendar.

Makeover session for ladies

Prior to the gala evening, ladies from Creating Effective Families in [Mossel Bay], Malibongwe [Oudtshoorn], Women Who Care [Knysna] and Phambili [George] are treated to a makeover session every month culminating to the event.

Finalists of the beauty pageant chosen

Facets of the competition kick of in May and culminate to the semifinals, on 20 September when the 12 finalists of the beauty pageant will be chosen to compete for the crown on the gala evening 25 September 2010. Within this competition, we have another two competitions in which 6x well-known designers from the region get an opportunity to design evening ball-gowns for the finalists. The crowning of Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo 2010 and the overall makeover winner of the shelters will take place on 25 September, during a glamorous gala evening held in a aluminum frame marquee tent on Pinnacle Point driving range, adjacent to Garden Route Casino, seating up to max 1000 guests.

At this stage “Overtone”(from the movie “Invictus”), will entertain guests, as well as a fashion extravaganza, during which six of the top Southern Cape fashion designers will present their spectacular creations to the public. Willie Venter, famed choreographer of the Miss SA beauty pageant and “Die Huisgenoot Skouspel” will manage the choreography and present guests with a breathtaking display of beauty and technique. MC’s famous Brumilda van Rensburg and at this stage Michael Moll will make sure that guests experience a memorable event. Miss Garden Route & Little Karoo 2010 will be chosen by a select panel of top flight judges, including representatives from You/Drum Magazine, Die Burger, Media 24, Miss SA along with Miss SA organizer/scout and CEO Calvin Gilfillan of Destinations Cape Routes Unlimited.

SMART WIN! - Garden Route Casino Mossel Bay

A much delighted Isabella Grebe from George could hardly believe her ears when she was announced the winner of the much desired Smart Passion Cabriolet at the Garden Route Casino on Wednesday evening. This was the grand prize in the Going Smart Promotion which ended on 28 October.

The other contestants were also thrilled to walk away with large amounts of cash. Apart from Isabella, Berthjean Taylor from Mossel Bay won R24 000, Gert Lottering from Dana Bay R12 000 and Catherine Statham from George R2 000. Throughout the day the Garden Route Casino presented hourly draws, with over R40 000 won by Strike It Rich members.

Winners - Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2009

The Gala evening for the crowning of Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo was held on Saturday 26 September. This Prestigious event hosted by die Garden Route Casino in Mossel Bay took place at Pinacle Point next to the Garden Route Casino in Mossel Bay Paul Rothman an ex Mr. South Africa and Pasella presenter was the master of ceremonies. Top South African artists like Flip a Coin, Nadine and Gift Gwe impressed with their performances. Lalakoi wish to congratulate the Garden Route Casino on a superb event!

Louise Muller (18) from Mossel Bay was crowned Miss Garden Route & Klein Karoo 2009. Louise with her outgoing personality will be the "Face of the Garden Route for 2009" and also the ambassador for tourism in the region. The second runner up was Nathalie Graaff (23) from Mossel Bay and the first princess Jeandre de Villiers (19) from Oudtshoorn.

We want to congratulate Noluthando Mkhobeni on a successful year as Miss Garden Route and Klein Karoo 2008 and wish her all the luck for her future and all the other beauty contests where she plans to take part in.
Lalakoi also wishes Louise Muller a successful year as Miss Garden Route and Klein Karoo 2009 and she can be assured that we will follow her beauty career.

The organizers of the competition also arranged a make over for the women from the four shelters – Creating Effective Families (Mossel Bay), Phambili (George), Malibongwe (Oudtshoorn) and Women who Care ( Knysna) who will benefit from this event. The make over winner is Annalise Arendse from CEF (Creating Effective Families)
