As the name indicates the Breede River House Boats are located on the Breede River near Swellendam in the Western Cape of South Africa.

The Breede River is one of the largest, most navigable rivers in South Africa. You are able to cruise for about 30 km to the river mouth and about 10 km upstream with the Houseboats. The river is tidal for 55 km upstream from the mouth and there are a few sandbanks to keep in consideration when navigating the boats.

Self Catering House Boats in the Garden Route

The House Boats are ideal for self catering holidays in the Garden Route, and offers a fully fitted kitchen with a fridge, gas stove with oven and a scullery. A sliding door separates the fore cabin from the main area, providing privacy and an undisturbed sleep to those who need to go to bed earlier. In the fore cabin is a double bed, as well as a single bed. The table arrangement in the main cabin folds down to form the second double bed. A separate compartment houses a hot water shower, wash hand basin and Porta Potty.


Breede River Bird Watching

The outdoor cockpit area is ideal for fishing or just relaxing in the sun on the Breede River. There is an easy access platform with a ladder at the stern for swimming. The rooftop deck is ideal for tanning or bird watching.


Overnight on the Breede River
Guest on the house boats may sleep anywhere they choose within the designated overnight limits of the Breede River - simply lower the anchor and make sure it is secured.

The boats are only hired as follow with no exceptions.
Weekend: Friday @16h00 to Monday@ 09h00. 3 nights
Midweek: Monday @ 16h00 to Friday @ 09h0. 4 nights
