Hermanus - Whale watching

Hermanus is known as the heart of the whale route and offers the best land based whale watching in the world. The 12km coastline gives tourists, holidaymakers and locals
unlimited whale watching opportunities.
The only Whale Crier in the world is not only a major attraction but keeps visitors informed as the where the whales are.
The Southern Right Whales are most frequently seen along the Overberg coast, but other species do also make their appearance from time to time. It is easy to distinguish the Southern Right Whales from the other whale from the V-shaped "blow" which appears around the head. The whales start arriving in May in order to calf in the shallow whale daily is from August to November, tailing off in December. The Bryde's Whales live year-round on the continental shelf.
